Year 2 Letter 4
13th March 2012
Dear Parents,
When children reach Stage 10 of our reading scheme, The Oxford Tree, there is an increased emphasis on comprehension. The books are longer with increasing challenge in the vocabulary used. As the context develops it is important that time is taken to develop the reader’s comprehension skills to fully understand the text. To encourage this, stage 10 books will be issued one book a night.
Please support your child’s developing reading skills by asking questions about the book and its context. Reading a broad range of books is also very beneficial to develop reading skills and your child will continue to have school library books to read and share.
Many Thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Hayes Miss L Cutler
